Welcome Elizabeth!

Welcome Elizabeth to our adventure! As most of you know we have a new addition. Elizabeth Hazel Sears came into our lives after 29 hours of labor. She just decided to take her sweet time. Maybe she was just being indecisive like her mother is, or just the fact she was coming sunnyside up, meaning she was facing outward instead of towards mommy's back like they should. She was born on March 3, weighing 7 lbs. 2 oz. and 20 inches long. She is just precious.

Starting back from my last blog, we have been busy. We have been working on the house and garden to get it lived in and prepared for baby. We went to Arkansas for Thanksgiving. We spent the week with Derek and Hazel. It was a great trip. Very relaxing. It was nice to get away from all the household stuff for some time. It is hard to remember so long ago. All I remember is that the weather was quite nice for Arkansas (I think it was warmer than CA), making pies for thanksgiving dinner, and enjoying being at their home for probably the last time. Derek and Hazel will be enjoying a California Thanksgiving next year as they are moving to this area this summer! We will miss Arkansas but will enjoy having both sets of grandparents close by.

Christmas was with my family. We spent Christmas Eve at my parents, opening gifts and having a nice big dinner. Christmas day we spent at my grandmother's house with all my aunts/uncles/cousins like usual. It is nice to be back from Germany to be with family on holidays, but we sure miss the Christmas markets and gluwine. Germany sure has that Christmas atmosphere that we love.

I had a baby shower at the beginning of January. It was spa themed with Sandy, my grandmother's caregiver and her daughters giving massages and doing nails. It was such a treat. I really enjoyed the baby shower. My sister and mom did a fabulous job putting it together. My friends from college were in town that weekend. The day before, we had a great time in Santa Cruz and Capitola and at girls night that night. All our lives are changing with kids in the picture for most of us now.

Chris built a cabinet for our family room, his first huge furniture project. It is great.

January and February, I remember feeling antsy to get out and go places, missing Germany and all the traveling we did. It was gorgeous weather. We went to Ardenwood Historic Farm and walked around. We went to the Gardens at Heather Farm on Super Bowl Sunday. That was a very warm day. After that, we went over to my parents to watch the game.

And here comes Elizabeth into our lives. It is hard to believe she is ours. It is so great to have family close by. I don't think I could have survived! It would have been very hard. For the first three weeks someone was here with me. Chris stayed home for two weeks. Derek and Hazel came the second and third week, along with Andrew on the third week. And my parents and family coming over for many visits throughout. It was quite shocking to be home alone on the fourth week. It was so helpful to have everyone. Thank you, thank you!

We are keeping busy with her. Taking her to the park and going on errands, even house hunting with Hazel. She has experienced her first restaurant, slept the whole time! She has done many circles around our neighborhood in both her carrier pack and her stroller.

Elizabeth is up for new and more exciting adventures this month. She is already 10 lbs 6 oz and 22 inches long (as of April 5th). 80 percentile in both weight and length! Growing fast!!
Day 1 versus Day 21
Love those chubby cheeks!
